Random acts of kindness

older man gobsmackedHow would you like to see someone you know be gobsmacked?  Maybe you could do that with some random acts of kindness. That means you would be the gobsmacker and the other person would be the gobsmackee.  Okay, gobsmacker and gobsmackee are not real words. I made them up!!  But gobsmacked is a real word.

[See Zeller Cellar Word fun for the meaning of gobsmacked.]

A random act of kindness is done spur of the moment. It’s unplanned and often casual. Like holding the door open for someone. Or carrying the groceries in for your neighbor. Or watering your neighbor’s lawn, even if they didn’t ask you.

Or telling a friend you like what they’re wearing or how they styled their hair. Or thanking some adult in your life for something they help you with. It doesn’t cost anything to do be kind.

I wonder why people aren’t kind more often. I wonder why some people, including some kids, are just plain mean. Some people are bullies. I think most bullies are cowards on the inside. So don’t be a bully.

October 2021–A personal note from CeCe: Earlier this year a stranger treated me with immense kindness during a very challenging time. That stranger, Tyler, is now my friend, and he will always have a special place in my heart. Kindness matters.

Think time

What’s the kindest thing someone ever did for you?

What’s the kindest thing you ever did?

What random act of kindness could you do that would cause someone to be gobsmacked?

I would love to see your think time thoughts. Use the comment window below to write to me.

  1. I gobsmacked my grandson just by bringing him home some french fries. Small acts of thoughtfulness and kindness can go a long way.
