Here in the Northern Hemisphere it’s getting dark earlier and earlier. Leaves on the trees are turning colors or blowing off the limbs in many parts of the United States and Canada. It’s fall and time for colder weather. The weather makes the cellar damp, so we have to be careful as we descend the steps, especially at night.
You pick from the Famous Phrases box this time. It looks like you picked a whole bunch. I have to hand it to you, you’re getting really good at this. Oh, my goodness. Everything you picked is about hands. This is amazing!
Fun things to do
1) Get a piece of paper and a plain old pencil or colored pencils. Lay one of your hands with the palm down on the paper and use your other hand to draw an outline of the hand that’s on the paper. Or ask a friend to draw the outline for you.
2) Pencil in your fingernails and the lines where your fingers bend. You can make your fingernails and lines any color you want or use lots of colors. Go crazy with color! Draw some designs on your fingers or pencil in some rings.
3) Now look at your own hands again. What would you change? Would you wear some jewelry or some designs? Decal stickers are fun and cheap and safe, and you can find them for every season or holiday.
4) Ask an adult to put their hand on another sheet of paper. Now draw an outline of their hand and color in their nails and lines. What else might you need to add that you don’t have on your hands? If they are older, a grandparent for example, do their veins show? Do they have darker areas on their skin called age spots?
Here’s why older adults have veins popping out and age spots:
Veins become more obvious with age because you lose soft tissue. This is especially true in your hands.
