Is that really true? Let’s explore.

That phrase is very old, dating back to 1866 or earlier from the country of Wales. The original phrase was “Eat an apple on going to bed, And you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread (money).”  (from phrases.org.uk)

1) Read how apples can help your body

  • They can help your blood sugar stay even. This is especially important if you’re a diabetic.
  • They can help you have strong bones.
  • They contain vitamin C and potassium which can help you have a strong heart.
  • They are 85% water and have fiber, so they fill you up and keep you from being hungry. A lot of the nutrition is in the apple skin.
  • You can have them at lunch or for a snack. They can help maintain a healthy weight.
