Fun things to do

BookwormFill in the blanks on the story below featuring Willie and Millie.  (Hint: only one word works in each blank space; all of the words in the list are nouns.)

“Yippee. We get two whole weeks off from school for our winter break,” Mille said as she skipped down the sidewalk. “What are you going to do? Let me guess. You’re going to study even though you don’t have to.”

“Why did you say that? Are you trying to be mean?” Willie asked.

“Well, it’s just that you’re such a _______________.”

“I was going to offer to carry your ______________, but now I’m not.”

“Okay. You’re right. I’m being a brat.”

Just then a neighbor came out of his front door. He knew both of them. “Hi, kids. You’re always walking together like a couple of ____________.”

“What’s his name?” Willie asked.

“That’s Mr. Sampson. He’s a _____________ at the grocery store.”

“I have to admit I wish the _____________ came to our neighborhood park like it does in the summer. If I get too bored during our vacation from school, my dad takes me to the ______________,” Willie said.

“You should join a ______________.  Maybe start one at school. There’s lots of kids who read sci-fi like you do.”

“Hmmm. That’s a good idea. At the public library they have the rare and special books locked in a ________________.  And one of them is an old sci-fi novel.”

While he was talking, Millie was thinking about what she could get him for the holidays. “Of course,” she thought to herself. “I’ll get him a ______________.”

“Does your family have holiday traditions?” Millie inquired.

“A ton of them. I could write a __________ about them.  See you tomorrow.”
